Join us in the practice of curiosity and creative motivation in 2 workshops tailored to dance and theater artists. Led by actor/director Tim Mateer,  Austin and dancer/choreographer Callie Chapman, Somerville to dive deep in your curiosity to discover ritual, personal story, the interplay between movement and voice, physical partnering, and discovering your personal myth.

Tim Mateer lives in Austin Texas, and has been practicing curiosity in the theater arts for over 40 years. He is a founding member of the award-winning big state productions migration performance group and Austin’s favorite Avant garde band Meat Joy. he has trained with Deborah Hay, Saskia Hecht, Barbara Hofrenning, Joe Sears, Jaston Williams, and Peter Lobdell. Tim has been on the road warrior touring nationally for nine years with the greater tuna theater company. A big believer in the traditional art of storytelling as a way of expanding your personal myth and finding your place in the community. In his personal writing practice he sends over 800 postcards a year many of them handmade. Tim a curious person, who is easy to laugh, and wants to be challenged and humbled daily.

 

Callie Chapman lives in Somerville, and has danced, choreographed, designed, directed, produced, and administrated with abandon for over 20 years. Callie is artistic director of Zoe Dance Co and has presented her work locally, regionally, and internationally in festivals, self-produced concerts, residencies, etc. She had danced with Prometheus Dance for 20 years from 1999 – 2019 and has toured and performed in many very awesome places with them throughout her tenure. In addition to dance, Callie is also very fond of the moving image and spatial tenacity in the theater. She has designed projection for companies such as Odyssey Opera, Modern Orchestra Project, Promethues Dance, and more. As a teacher, Callie has taught in schools such as Walnut Hill School for the Arts, International Ballet School of Winchester, Sereda Dance Arts, and others.
